Lectionary Worship Aids
Series V, Cycle A
First Lesson: Jeremiah 26:1-6
Theme: They Might Listen
Call To Worship
Part of standing firm in our faith involves speaking out when what we have to say is unpopular. Part of standing firm in faith embraces waiting for others to be able to hear. Part of standing firm includes knowing some of our labors will blow away in the wind but others will achieve fruition. So we must be of good courage as we stand firm in the faith.
Collect
We thank you, O Bounteous God, for your persistence in standing firm in the hope that your people might listen to the truths you set forth. We thank you for your tenacity in cheering us on. Through Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, many important words we speak remain unheard by those we want to hear them -- our children, parents, teachers, friends, employers, lifemates. Do we waste our energy? We have little control over another's listening or changing from disastrous ways. Give us the strength to continue trying to reach them and the hope that they might listen. In the name of Christ. Amen.
65A Hymns

Call To Worship
Stand firm in the faith. Stand firm in your faith. May God restore what is lacking in your faith. May holiness strengthen your hearts through all distress. Come, now, and let us worship God in gratitude and in faith.
Collect
We are witnesses to the faith of our forefathers and foremothers, O God. We also applaud the efforts of present-day parents to keep alive the faith in times equally hostile to a life of faith. We come here in this place today to thank you, Holy Parent, for your continual restoration of our faith. Amen.
