Dear Wise And Purposeful One:
Like sleepers suddenly aroused from dreaming, humanity is reacting with surprise and astonishment to this new dawn of awareness. People everywhere are taking stock anew of the world around them; they are celebrating freedom and opportunity they never knew before were available to them. They are busily engaged, also, in trying to shake off the burden of delusional dreams, myths, and speculations with which they have been comforting and beguiling themselves through the long ages of their history. Like children wide-eyed with wonder, they are re-assessing themselves and their world. They are convinced that they are being more realistic in what they see.
Your patience as you watch us plunge about in excitement is a sure sign of your love and grace. You understand us. You know that, as a whole, the human race is in an adolescent stage of development. You are not shocked that we are learning to say: "Oh, yeah? Who says so? And why?"
We trust your parental patience to understand that our attitudes and behavior are signs of increasing maturity. It is not so much evidence of doubt and defiance, we hope, as it is that we are growing up.
Help us understand our need of spiritual maturity to match our understanding of the physical aspects of reality. Bless us with a comparably enlightening spiritual awakening. Teach us to be humble as we experience growth.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
