Proper 10
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Parable Of The Sower
Call To Worship
As we come together to worship God and hear the Word, let us come with receptive hearts that we may hear the Word and understand it. Then may we go forth prepared to yield an abundant harvest.
Invocation
O God, let not the good seed which is your Word be snatched away by the evil one, or fall upon a surface baked hard by cynicism, or be choked out by the busyness of a hectic lifestyle. Instead, may it take root in soil which has been well prepared by your Spirit, and may it spring up into lives which are both beautiful and fruitful; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Lord, like the seed which falls on rocky ground we have often received your Word with great joy, but when trouble has arisen we have fallen away. Weeds have grown in our spiritual gardens, and the cares of the world and the lure of wealth have choked your Word. Send forth your Holy Spirit to prepare us to receive your Word that we might bear good fruit for your kingdom. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, as we present these gifts as part of our harvest, help us not to grow weary in well-doing, knowing that in due season we shall reap, if we do not lost heart. Amen.
Hymns
"Morning Has Broken"
"God Of Grace And God Of Glory"
"Open My Eyes That I May See"
