The sheep has been domesticated
for so many years,
that a sheep without a shepherd
can succumb to many fears.
When his wool is long and heavy
and he’s lying on a hill,
if his feet are up the slope,
he cannot stand. He never will.
Sheep aren’t really very bold and
they are also not too bright.
While they seldom do much thinking,
they are easy to excite.
If a flock should start to panic
and a leader should arise,
foolishly, they all will follow
though it lead to their demise.
Take a look at human hist’ry.
You will find we’re much like sheep.
People sometimes follow leaders
like they’re walking in their sleep.
Let a Fuhrer or a Duce
or an Ayatollah come
who will play upon their fears
and thinking turns to minimum,
which makes a very fertile place for
bigotry and animus.
And that’s why we need a shepherd
who will rescue us from us.
