Proper 11
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle C
Theme: The Price Of Sin
Call To Worship
Leader: God's faithfulness is eternal.
People: I trust in his constant love forever and ever.
Leader: I will always thank you, God, for what you have done.
People: In the presence of your people, I will proclaim that you are good.
Collect
Heavenly Father, your love for us is beyond measure, but like naughty children we are often influenced by our peers into doing things that are not pleasing in your sight. May this time of worship draw us closer to you and help us to trust your constant love more completely. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, we do not control our tongues, and we know what harm our words may have done to others. We get caught up in the business world and shrug off shady deals by saying, "That's business." Forgive us, merciful Father, and through your Holy Spirit help us truly to find new life in Christ that will show forth your love in all that we do and say. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, transform these dollars we place upon your altar into deeds of love and mercy that will help transform lives from doing evil to trusting in your righteousness. Amen.
Hymns
"I Love To Tell The Story"
"Rescue The Perishing"
"Amazing Grace"
Proper 11/Ordinary Time 16

Second Lesson: Colossians 1:15-28
Theme: God Has Made You His Friends
Call To Worship
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness, O God!
Come, let us worship the God of love and mercy.
Collect
Merciful God, Creator of the universe, through your Son, Jesus Christ, we have come to know you as our friend. Bless our worship this morning that we may come to know where we have failed you, how to take on the new life you have given us through your Holy Spirit, and what we can do to help bring the whole universe back to you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we must confess that we have not always been faithful. There have been times when the path we travel seems dark, and our faith and trust in you has been shaken. We gather this morning to strengthen the foundation of our hope, and pray that through your Holy Spirit we will find the power we need to remain steadfast in our loyalty to you under all circumstances. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Ever-faithful God, accept these gifts, we pray, as a sign of our commitment to your kingdom and our continuing hope that your will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

"Jesus, Lover Of My Soul"
"Great Is Thy Faithfulness"
"What A Friend We Have In Jesus"

Call To Worship
Put your worries and troubles aside, and come sit at the feet of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. Listen to his teachings and learn from them.
Come, let us worship together!
Collect
Patient God, we need to learn from you. We get caught up in busy activity, hoping people will notice how hard we are working, but we forget that what we need most is to wait patiently for your Word. In this time of worship, Lord, we sit at your feet, waiting patiently for your Word that will enlighten our path and lighten our burden. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, often we are quick to complain about all that we have to do, and forget that we should be thankful for every opportunity to serve you. Teach us to take time to sit at your feet and learn the lessons that will enable us to do the work with grateful hearts. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Eternal God, the needs of your children overwhelm us, but we bring these gifts trusting in your power to multiply them and direct their use where they can accomplish much to relieve the suffering and pain of those in need. Amen.

"He Touched Me"
