A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Proverbs 9:1-6)
One: Does not wisdom call, and does not understanding raise her voice?
All: On the heights, beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand;
Men: beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries out:
Women: "To you, O people, I call, and my cry is to all that live.
Front: O simple ones, learn prudence; acquire intelligence, you who lack it.
Back: Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right."
Unison Prayer
Precious Lord, we come to you this morning for wisdom and insight, praying that in our worship together your will for us can be made known. There is so much that is good in this world, but there are many distractions as well. We require your insight as we choose. Here, in this place, with your light flowing through our clear glass windows, with your natural world visible beyond our simple walls, we pray that we will feel your presence and learn your will for our lives. These things we pray in the name of the Risen Lord. Amen.
Morning Prayer
O God, ruler of all, the maker of heaven and earth and sea and all that is in them, help me, have mercy on me, wash away my sins from me, save me now and in the coming age, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through whom is the glory and the power into the age of the ages, Amen.
(Papyrus Oxyrhynchus II [1903] 407, third or fourth century, translated by Frank Ramirez)
Unison Offering Prayer
Lord of our time as well as our wealth, consecrate us as your people as we pledge to support this year's revival with our attendance, our prayers, and our hearts. Accept the gifts we lay before your altar this morning. Amen.
Children's Benediction
Let us seek God's will for our lives.
