A general Call To Worship.

Call upon the Lord.

God is present in the company of the righteous.

God is our refuge,

And our salvation,

Let us rejoice,

And be glad!
Ephesians passage.
Leader:
Come, let us worship God.
People:
Let us kneel before the Father,

From whom his whole family,

In heaven and on earth,

Derives its name.

From his glorious riches,
Leader:
He strengthens us with Holy Spirit power within.
People:
He grounds us in his love,
Leader:
The love of Christ so wide and long and high and deep,

It's beyond our ability to grasp!

Grant us, Father, power to know your amazing love

And fill us completely with your fullness

As we kneel and worship you.

Prayer Of Confession
Psalm 14
Leader:
The fool says in his heart,
People:
"There is no God."
Leader:
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
People:
There is no one who does good.
Leader:
The Lord looks down from heaven upon the people on earth
People:
To see if there are any who understand,
Leader:
Any who seek God.
People:
All have turned aside,
Leader:
Together they have become corrupt;
People:
There is no one who does good,
Leader:
Not even one.
People:
God, we confess that we think we're really not so bad.
Leader:
Others sin,
People:
But not us.
Leader:
The truth of your word pierces our hearts, though.
People:
We have all sinned.
Leader:
Not one of us is good,
People:
Not even me,
Leader:
Or me.
People:
Forgive us for denying your truth.
Leader:
Forgive our hearts when we say, "There is no God."
People:
Forgive us for our sins and for turning away from you.
Leader:
God have mercy on us.
People:
Lord have mercy.
Leader:
Amen.

I do not understand what I do.
People:
It seems that the thing I don't want to do,
Leader:
Ends up being the very thing I do.
People:
So obviously sin is still alive in me.
Leader:
For I have the desire to do good, but I cannot do it.
People:
Instead of doing the good I want to do
Leader:
I do the evil I do not want to do,
People:
It always happens this way.
Leader:
I want to do good, but sin is right there to trip me up.
People:
Part of me loves God's way,
Leader:
But another part wages war against my love of God.
People:
I am at the end of my rope.
Leader:
Who will rescue me from this body of death?
People:
Thanks be to God, who sent Jesus Christ to set things right with me!
Leader:
For being in Christ means I am no longer condemned,
People:
No longer at sin's mercy.
Leader:
Instead I am at God's mercy,
People:
And God forgives.
Leader:
Praise be to God. Amen!
Assurance Of Pardon
Hear the good news. There is one who is good, Jesus Christ! By faith in him, he will come and dwell within your heart, imparting his goodness to you. In Christ alone are we forgiven and made righteous. This is the good news of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Receive, by faith, this word of truth.
Related to Psalm 14.
There are those who say God is dead, that we have outgrown our need for him. People have said this through all the ages. Three thousand years ago, the psalmist said, "Only the fool says there is no God." Just be still and you will know God. Let us be still.
Prayer Of Dedication
John 6:10-13
There are so many needs all around us, and a year's salary would hardly make a dent in satisfying all these needs. Our offerings seem like a few loaves and fishes given to feed five thousand. But Jesus, you say give what you have to me in faith. In your miraculous hands, what is given to you is blessed and broken and distributed to those who are sitting expectantly at your feet. And needs are satisfied and hearts are grateful and we all stand amazed. Lord Jesus, bless and break not only the money we bring to you, but also our lives that we bring to you, so that the people around us will know the abundance and riches of your grace. In your name alone. Amen.

Let us pray: Five thousand were fed with a few loaves and fishes. Some say there was no miracle. They say that you just shamed the crowd into sharing what they were keeping to themselves. They say that was the real miracle. Lord, why do we have such a hard time believing in miracles? Why must we have everything organized into neat little intellectual boxes so that we can understand it all? Ahh, it is that age-old sin, our desire to be like God; to control everything ourselves so that we can feel safe. O God, teach us how much better life can be when we acknowledge your greatness; when we accept that there are things that happen that are beyond our ability to begin to understand; that there is much mystery in life; that your universe is so vast that we are as specks in it; and that it is okay, in fact it is good, for a God we can understand is no God at all. This morning Lord, we celebrate your miraculous power and ask that you direct it to the people and places we raise up to you now ...
