Object:
Words Of Assurance
When Jesus saw that the multitude was hungry he multiplied the loaves and fishes so that all might be satisfied. Even so we can count on God to care for us.
Pastoral Prayer
O Lord God Almighty, you know the thoughts of all people; you search our hearts, our inmost beings. You have called us to your presence though we are unworthy. Turn not your face from us, but wipe away all our transgressions. Wash away the defilements of our souls, and thoroughly sanctify us, so that while we pray you to grant forgiveness of sins to others, we ourselves may not be cast away. Send the grace of your Holy Spirit upon us: make us worthy to stand before your holy presence.
Our God, great both in love and in power, now as always we give you our thanks and praise. How can we speak aright of all that you are and all that you have done? Our minds cannot contain what you have created. How can we comprehend you, the Creator of all? And yet you do not stay distant from us; you draw near to us in Jesus Christ and claim us for yourself. In him you show us what you are and what we may become. In him you promise us your kingdom and make known its secrets. We praise you! Lord our God, all that we have and will have comes from you. To you we give our thanks and praise.
To you we also bring our prayers and petitions. Your goodness encourages us to bring before you the needs of the world you have made, of your Church and of our loved ones.
We pray, therefore, for those who are racked by hunger while we waste our food and feed ourselves too well. Do not let our consciences rest until the good things of this earth are justly shared by all.
We remember before you those who suffer from armed conflict while others profit from their troubles. Bring peace in our time, we pray, and speed the work of those who struggle for peace.
Hear us also, O God, as we offer our prayers for your Church. Make it faithful in preaching, in praise, and in action.
Hear all our prayers, O God, both those spoken aloud and those whispered in our hearts. Look with favor upon those that accord with your will and advance the cause of your kingdom. May that kingdom come in us and throughout the world, we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Benediction
May God grant you the ability for every task you undertake, the courage for every challenge you meet, and the strength for every cross you bear; and the blessing of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be yours now and forever. Amen.
