A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 119:105-112)
All: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
One: I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to observe your righteous ordinances.
Left: I am severely afflicted; give me life, O LORD, according to your word.
Right: Accept my offerings of praise, O LORD, and teach me your ordinances.
Men: I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law.
Women: The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.
Front: Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.
Back: I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.
Unison Prayer
Your word, Lord, is our lamp and our light, as we seek to uphold your laws. We gather to praise your law, to praise your name, to praise you, God. Let your Spirit descend among us that we might become your people, perfected through your love. These things we pray in the name of the Risen Lord. Amen.
Unison Offering Prayer
Our offerings we bring today, and pray you will receive them in the spirit that they are given for the work of your church throughout the world. Amen.
Morning Prayer
Lord, we seek to be doers of the word, and not merely hearers. It's so easy for us to lose sight of what we have pledged to do in your name. Grant that in our hearing of the joys and concerns, the sorrows and the celebrations, of our fellow Christians, our sisters and brothers in the Lord, we may be inspired to comfort, cajole, and constantly abide with each other, praying for each other, and with each other, remembering the words of your Son and our Savior, saying in one voice:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
