Series VI, Cycle C
Theme: The Price Of Evil Deeds
Call To Worship
Leader: Turn to the Lord and pray to him, now that he is near.
People: Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking.
Leader: Let them turn to the Lord our God.
People: He is merciful and quick to forgive.
All: Show us your mercy, Almighty God, and we will be saved.
Collect
God of mercy and justice, we lift up our prayers for the doers of evil and wickedness. We know that we, too, are counted among their number, and stand in need of your mercy and forgiveness. Even as we repent and seek a new life through the power of your Holy Spirit, we pray that we may be used in some way to turn the hearts of the wicked who keep the world in turmoil. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we cry out for you to save us and our world from the consequences of evil deeds. We know that your judgments are righteous, but we know, too, that in the spirit of forgiveness you can set us aright with the spirit of reconciliation. We pray that we may be used by you to spread your gospel of peace and goodwill to every nation. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord God Almighty, we present these gifts that through your Church the nations of the world may hear the gospel of peace and goodwill, that those bent on evil may turn from their ways, and that all may know you are the ruler of the earth. Amen.

Collect
Lord, we praise you for those who have set us an example by their faith and trust in you. We find ourselves stumbling and falling in the race of life, and pray that as we gather here today we may be renewed and strengthened by your Holy Spirit so we may learn to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith. In whose name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, when our thoughts wander, and we are tempted to trust the ways of the world, call us back to the One who died for our salvation, and has shown us the true path to your kingdom, even Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

With these gifts, Lord, we rededicate ourselves to you and pledge to keep our eyes only on you as we run the race of life. Amen.

People: Lord, help us to understand.
Leader: Come, let us worship together as we draw near to God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Collect
Lord, we seek to make a total commitment to you, but sometimes we are not ready to pay the cost. In this time of worship, help us better to understand the sayings of Jesus, and by the power of your Holy Spirit enable us to be faithful to them. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, we know that we should remain faithful to your will, but there are times when it seems this will require a cost we are not prepared to pay. Help us, we pray, to understand what a total commitment means, and why it is so important in our lives and to your kingdom. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Eternal God, we present these offerings as part of our commitment to you and the building of your kingdom. We do not yet understand the meaning of total commitment, but pray that our faith and understanding will continue to grow that we may use all that we have to your glory. Amen.
