Call To Worship
All: Lord, we come together, restless in our pews.
One: Our gaze drifts outside to the corn, ripe for harvest, and to the cars that pass.
Men: We wonder what errands they have.
Women: We ponder our own errands later this day.
All: Lord, we come together, restless in our lives.
One: Our thoughts drift to the days of our lives, so many and so few.
Left: We think about where we are going, what our lives hold.
Right: We think about what we have done, the chapters of our own story.
Front: We ponder our successes.
Back: We ponder our failures.
All: Lord, we offer all of this to you, our restlessless, our regrets, our hopes, and our devotion. Mold us, your imperfect clay, into your perfect church.
Unison Prayer
Gracious Lord, this day we resolve again to be your presence in a difficult world. Fill us with your spirit, repair the cracks in our broken lives, perfect us in your image, lead us to your glory. Bless us in our gathering together and in our leaving here today. Amen.
Morning Prayer
Lord, so often we value people by what they can do for us, yet you weigh us in a different scale. In your kingdom the broken, the marginalized, the abandoned, the worthless, the foreigner, the outcast, the prisoner, the diseased, the contagious, the imprisoned, the noisy, the annoying, these are the ones you use, these are your tools for the work of your kingdom. We want to see with your eyes, hear with your ears, love with your heart. Amen.
Unison Offering Prayer
Lord, our offerings are given from that which we value most, our wealth, for those things we understand least, the actions of your Spirit in this world. Magnify our offerings, magnify your Spirit in our hearts. Amen.
Children's Benediction
Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes a child welcomes me."
