Words Of Assurance
When the Lord sends us as his messengers into the world he assures us that he will be with us. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
O Lord, our God, only you are eternal, and it is only to you that we can turn when everything else fails. All of our human wonders are as castles in the sand when compared to you. We praise you for your power as it has worked for our good, for your grace reaching new to us each day, for your love expressed in Jesus Christ our Savior.
Look upon us, O Lord, in our conceits and in our distresses. Cause us to become more constant in our devotion, more fervent in our prayers, more determined to walk in the steps of your Son.
To that intent, dear God, point us to the needs that cry for our presence, our hands, and our money.
Make us so disturbed at the thought of poverty and injustice that we will strain our resources for the help of others. Reach in pity to those for whom life has lost its taste, and give new hope to the bereaved, new courage to the endangered, new assurance to the anxious, new trust and confidence to those who find the road covered with the unknown.
As we are strangers and pilgrims, Lord, go with us in every path and to every place, that assured of your presence we may live more fully for the loving service of one another, like him whom we acknowledge as our Savior, even Jesus Christ. Amen.
Benediction
May there be granted to you courage for every challenge, wisdom for every decision, strength for every temptation, and joy for every triumph; and the blessing of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with you always. Amen.
