Prayer Of Confession
We approach the day with high hopes, then find reality tempers the ideal. When complaints repeatedly trounce on us, we get to wandering around in personal wildernesses, God. We need defending. We ask, gracious God, to find enough encouragement in Christ to make Christ our center rather than ourselves. Show us that it is you who is at work in us, urging us to please you by our convictions and through our actions. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Proper 21
Sunday between September 25 and October 1 inclusive
Gospel: Matthew 21:23-32
Theme: Authority
Call To Worship
Why do you come to church? Seemingly obedient to God's authority, some of us come to worship regularly but are inattentive. Others worship infrequently but want the church to be there for us when we need it. Some show up when we are needed for a task. Who is your highest authority? Do you respect God's authority in this year of your life? What does the authority of God mean to you?
Collect
Gracious God, creator of all life and author of our lives, to you we give highest power. May your spirit of holiness encircle us as we honor you. In the spirit of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
There is hope for us sinners. The hope lies in our willingness to think again, to reconsider, and to turn around our ways and change. Is there hope also for those who give lip service to the faith? Help us all to sing your name, O God, by our actions as well as our mouths. Amen.
56A Hymns
"Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" Tune: LOBE DEN HERREN
"I To The Hills Will Lift [Mine][My] Eyes" Tune: DUNDEE
"Come, [Now][Thou] Almighty King" Tune: ITALIAN HYMN
