Lectionary Worship Aids
Cycle B, Series IV
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who would praise the Lord gather now for worship!
People: We will lift our voices in praise every day of our lives.
Leader: In the good days and the bad days? In times of plenty or times of loss?
People: In every day of our lives, for the Lord is our only hope and salvation.
Leader: Let us celebrate the wonderful love of God in song and praise.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, even though the days of this life are limited, You indeed are the God of all eternity. Help us to keep our focus on You so that we might be faithful in everything we do or say. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have only been faithful when it suited our purposes. Too often, Lord, even in the small things, we have compromised our faith for what seemed important to us in that moment. Forgive us, Lord, and help us keep our hearts focused on You rather than on our momentary needs, remembering You hold not just this moment, but our eternity, in Your hand. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"To God Be The Glory"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
"Nearer, My God, To Thee"
Proper 22
Sunday between October 2 and October 8 inclusive
Second Lesson: Hebrews 1:1-4; 2:5-12

Call To Worship
Leader: Praise be to the Lord for the beauty and wonder of the creation!
People: Praise be to the Lord who has blessed us and called us in Christ.
Leader: All that we have or ever will have comes from and belongs to the Lord.
People: The Lord calls us to be faithful and accountable for all God has given.
Leader: Let us praise the Lord by being blessings to all who are in need.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty God, in Your divine wisdom You have called each and every one of us who would be members of Your kingdom to be stewards of Your creation. Help us to be worthy of Your trust, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, as we have looked at all we see around us, we have regarded Your creation as something we may indiscriminately use with impunity to serve our pleasures for the moment. And often, Lord, we have looked at Your blessings as "ours," the result of our labors only. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to be good stewards and to remember we owe all we have to You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"I Am Thine, O Lord"
"God Of The Sparrow, God Of The Whale"
"I Surrender All"
Proper 22
Sunday between October 2 and October 8 inclusive
Gospel: Mark 10:2-16
Theme: Children of God
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all of God's children come together in the house of the Lord!
People: We are each sisters and brothers in Christ, beloved by Almighty God.
Leader: And God has blessed us abundantly so we might pass those blessings along.
People: Then let us remember in all we do that we are indeed children of God.
Leader: And let us proclaim for all to hear of God's adopting love.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and loving God, You have called us to be Your children, and You would bless the world through our lives if we would only let You. Help us to open our hearts to Your leadership, O God. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, sometimes it is so hard for us to step back from the independent roles that we cling to in our culture. It is hard for us to accept that we are Your dependent children. We want so much to be in control and to have power that we often lose sight that You are the only true source of power in the universe. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to be Your children. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord"
"Here I Am, Lord"
"Grace That Is Greater Than All Our Sins"
