Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Rejoice In The Lord, Always
Call To Worship
Hear these words from Paul's letter to the Philippians: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice... the Lord is near."
As we come together in worship may we remember that the Lord is indeed near, and let us rejoice by singing praises to his name.
Invocation
God, to whom belong adoration and praise, prepare us, through the active presence of your Spirit, to come before you worthily, and to ask of you rightly; enlighten our understanding; purify our every desire; quicken our wills into instant obedience to your Word; strengthen every right purpose; direct this time of worship to the magnifying of your name, and to the enduring good of us your children and servants; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Lord, it is so easy to become lazy in our prayer life and lax in our worship. We need to be restored in our devotion and to have a fresh sense of your active presence in our lives. Come now and sensitize us, prod us, and urge us on to a more holy life. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Almighty God, we know that without love, our charity is as a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. We present these offerings in a spirit of love and rejoicing for your many blessings, and pray that they may make a sweet symphony of praise to you, O Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"O For A Heart To Praise My God"
"Take Time To Be Holy"
"Lord, I Want To Be A Christian"
