Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Cycle B, Series IV
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who entrust their lives to the Lord gather now for worship!
People: For the Lord's ways are not our ways and we may not fully understand.
Leader: But our faith remains in the Lord and we will trust God's will forever.
People: In good times or hard times we will praise the name of the Lord.
Leader: For the Lord is faithful and true and is worthy to be greatly praised.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty God, in You alone do we place our faith. There is no other god but You, and we will not turn away from Your call. Use us, O Lord, according to Your perfect plan for our lives. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, sometimes when life has presented us with difficult circumstances we have been quick to blame You and to complain about Your plan for our lives. And often when we have not gotten things exactly as we wanted them, we have again complained about Your injustice. Forgive us, O Lord, and help our faith to grow as we learn to trust You completely. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"To God Be The Glory"
"Trust And Obey"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
Proper 25
Sunday between October 23 and October 29 inclusive
Second Lesson: Hebrews 7:23-28
Theme: Christ, our eternal high priest
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let all who have given their lives to Christ enter now for worship!
People: Christ is our high priest who stands for us before the throne of God.
Leader: And, unlike all other high priests, Christ is without sin and is eternal.
People: And the gift of God's love for us is also perfect and eternal.
Leader: Then let our faith remain pure and strong as we come to praise God.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in the gift of Christ and the resurrection You have given us a message of eternity, and You have called us to fear no more and follow You. O Lord, give us again Your blessing. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have so often ignored how You gave Your life on the cross for our sins. As we pass through our days we have too often not even given a second thought to the price You paid so that You might offer us eternity. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to be aware we were purchased through Your death on the cross and our lives belong now and forever to God. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"All Creatures Of Our God And King"
"All Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name"
"I Need Thee Every Hour"
Proper 25
Sunday between October 23 and October 29 inclusive
Gospel: Mark 10:46-52
Theme: And the blind shall see.
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us come to the house of the Lord to worship and give praise!
People: But there are so many in need and so many who are hurting.
Leader: Come to the house of the Lord and bring the suffering along as well.
People: Are all welcome to enter together into the house of the Lord?
Leader: In Christ, all are made welcome as members of the family of God.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and merciful God, only You can open the eyes of the blind so that we might see Your kingdom before us. And only You, Lord, can empower us to carry Your Gospel into the world. Send us, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have chosen to face life all alone. Too often we not only fail to come to You with our problems, but we also fail to lift in prayer the problems in the lives of those around us. Too often our lives fail to give witness to the difference prayer and faith can make. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to walk closer with You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Be Thou My Vision"
"O How I Love Jesus"
"Pass It On"
