Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Leadership
Call To Worship
Earthly leaders come and go, but we can always depend upon the God of our Salvation to raise up new leaders through whom he will show us the way ahead. Come, let us worship Almighty God -- the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Invocation
Lord, we owe much to those who have gone before us, leading us ever onward toward the land of promise. We thank you for the example they have given us in mentoring others to take over the leadership when they must relinquish it. Empower our leaders by your Holy Spirit, and may we be faithful followers. Amen.
Confession
We confess that we are disappointed when we do not see the fruition of our dreams. Often we are reluctant to have others assume positions of leadership, and find ourselves being critical of their methods. O Lord, give us a deeper understanding of what it means to work in unity for the building up of your kingdom, and grant us the humility and patience we need to be faithful disciples. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O Lord, so often do we ask for your blessings, and so seldom do we thank you for them. Receive our thanks as we express it both in word and in this act of sacrifice. Amen.
Hymns
"Lead On, O King Eternal"
"Dear Lord, Lead Me Day By Day"
"Lord Whose Love Through Humble Service"
