Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Be Prepared
Call To Worship
Leader: I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest."
People: I replied, "Later, Lord. I'm too busy now."
Leader: I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live."
People: I replied, "Not now, Lord, I'm not thirsty."
Leader: Come, let us worship together, and prepare our hearts and minds to receive our Lord.
Invocation
Lord, we come to you weary, worn, and sad, knowing we will find in you a resting place. We come thirsty for the living water that will revive our souls. For we would bathe in your light until our traveling days are done. Amen.
Confession
Forgive our impatience, Lord, for we live in an age of instant gratification. We ask questions and we expect immediate answers. We expect our prayers to serve as magic lanterns that will produce your presence like Aladdin's genie. Prepare our hearts and minds to wait patiently for you, O God, knowing that you will come to us in your time, and keep us ever ready and prepared to welcome you and serve you. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O Lord, receive our offerings, not as boasts, not as bribes, but as sincere and silent expressions of our faith and as positive proof of our love. Amen.
Hymns
"O Day Of God, Draw Nigh"
"Marching To Zion"
"When We All Get To Heaven"
