Proper 28
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Trustworthy Stewards
Call To Worship
God has given each of us talents to be invested in the building of his kingdom on earth. As we gather to give thanks and praise to God, let us also ask ourselves if we have been trustworthy stewards of that which God has given us.
Invocation
O Lord, as we gather here, we are aware of how exceptionally blessed we are, and how fortunate we are to be entrusted with your Word and your world. It is our prayer that during this time of worship we may become increasingly aware that our ownership is neither absolute nor eternal, and that we must some day give to you a full account of what we have done with what you have given us. Amen.
Confession
Lord, often when we are called upon to invest ourselves in the life of your Church, or in our community, yes, and in our homes too, we make excuses: we don't have time, we're not good enough, we don't know how. Help us in this time of worship to learn from the parable of the talents that, whatever our gifts, we are to invest them faithfully in the building of your kingdom. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, our Father, as we present these gifts we remember that we are responsible for all that we do, all that we are, and for all that we have. Amen.
Hymns
"What Does The Lord Require?"
"Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone?"
"A Charge To Keep I Have"
