Words Of Assurance
Those who are open to the truth of God will find it, and those who are open to the forgiveness of God will experience it.
Pastoral Prayer
Eternal Spirit, in whom is our strength for this world, and our hope for that which is to come, we would worship you with sincere and humble hearts. We find life's problems difficult, its temptations strong, and our own will and wisdom insufficient. Our hearts need you, your forgiveness and cleansing, your refreshing light, the resource of your presence, and the guidance of your continuing fellowship.
We come to you, O God of compassion and understanding, asking that you will help others and ourselves who are experiencing a time of discouragement.
Some have been defeated in competition, or in business, or in love. Some are suffering from long periods of depression. Some are simply weary because of the ongoing struggles of life. Some have lost the incentive for going on. Some are experiencing low physical energy, low mental energy, or low spiritual energy.
Take our hand, Lord, and lead us on. Encourage us with your smile. Open our eyes to see the reward you have planned for those who love you. Infuse us with the divine energy that only your Spirit can give. Assure us that we are still your children, and that you have a plan for our lives. Unleash our creative energies, and give us the exhilaration of even some small victory along the way.
Have mercy upon our stricken world, O God. You are the God of moral law who makes the way of the transgressor hard. Be also to us now the God of new vision and fresh hope. Show us the way, not back into our old denials of human brotherhood, but forward into a better day of our redemption.
Now, our Father, we pray that you will grant us the will and the wisdom to use in your service all the gifts and attributes with which you have endowed us. Help us to recognize that we serve you best when we serve each other without thought of self.
We give our thanks and make our requests in the name of him who touches us and makes us whole again, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Benediction
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
