Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle C
Theme: The Lord Alone Is Good
Call To Worship
Leader: Sing to the Lord, all the world!
People: Sing to the Lord, and praise him!
Leader: Proclaim his glory to the nations;
People: his mighty deeds to all peoples.
Leader: Come, let us worship the Lord who alone is God!
Collect
Lord God Almighty, we come together to sing your praises, to offer our thanks, and to seek your guidance. When all about us people turn to idols and false gods for solutions to today's problems, grant us wisdom, patience, and determination that we may be your saving voice in the world of your creation. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, in our efforts to be your witness in the world we sometimes look for miracles with which to confront our opponents. Help us, Lord, to understand that Elijah lived in a different time, and that your ways may not be as spectacular now, though they are still dependable. Help us to learn and live the ways of Jesus; in whose name we pray. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, we know that you do not require animal sacrifices as in the days of Elijah, but we present our offerings as symbols of our devotion and dedication to your kingdom. Bless them, we pray, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
Hymns
"Eternal Son, Eternal Love"
"Jesus Lord, We Look To Thee"
"We Believe In One True God"
Proper 4/Ordinary Time 9
Sunday between May 29 and June 4 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 1:1-12

People: Praise his glory and might.
Leader: Glory and majesty surround him.
People: Power and beauty fill his Temple.
Leader: Say to all the nations, "The Lord is king!"
People: He will rule the peoples of the world with justice and fairness.
Collect
Eternal God, Creator of all the earth, we give you thanks for your Son, Jesus Christ, who came into the world to redeem the nations. While it may seem that we are voices crying in the wilderness, may this time of worship strengthen our resolve to bring your message of peace, justice, and fairness to all peoples, that together our voices may be heard by those who govern. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, many voices call out for our attention as they proclaim their own version of the gospel. Send your Holy Spirit upon us that we may resist all claims that are divisive, that are self-righteous, and that do not proclaim your love and your mercy. Make us messengers of the one gospel taught by word and deed by our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
With these gifts, O Lord, we reaffirm our faith in you, and rededicate ourselves to the mission of proclaiming your gospel by word and deed. Amen.
Hymns
"Father Eternal, Ruler Of Creation"
"Rejoice, The Lord Is King"
"Thou, Whose Almighty Word"
Proper 4/Ordinary Time 9
Sunday between May 29 and June 4 inclusive

We have faith that you know what is best for us and that you will grant us what we need. Thanks be to you, Almighty One, who cares for his children as the Good Shepherd watches over his flock. Amen.

There are times, Lord, when we are weighed down by grief or illness, and doubts crowd out our steadfast faith in you. Have mercy on us in times of trial, and strengthen our faith in your wondrous love made known to us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
