Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 123)
All: To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
One: As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us.
All: Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us!
Unison Invocation
Lord of glory, Lord of light, we have suffered under the weight of daily life. Our time spent here together in your presence is sweet relief. How blessed every precious moment becomes. We lift up our eyes to you, who are enthroned in the heavens, and in this haven we realize how swiftly the tyrants of our lives will pass. Your lordship is the foundation of our hope. Send your Spirit to lift our spirits! Amen.
Morning Prayer
Lord Jesus, you told us that prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house. There are prophets in our midst. Your servants live and move and speak among us. Open our hearts that we may hear your words through their lives. Amen.
Offering Prayer
We plow the fields and scatter the good seed on the land,
but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand.
God sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain,
the breezes and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain.
All good gifts around us are sent from heav'n above.
We thank you Lord, we thank you, Lord, for all your love.
(Text: Matthias Claudius, Wir pfl gen und wir streuen, Fest, 1782; tr. Jane M. Campbell, Garland of Song, 1861)
Children's Benediction
We look to the Lord!
