A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Ephesians 2:11-22)
Women: But now in Christ Jesus we who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Men: For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.
Left: So he came and proclaimed peace to us who were far off and peace to those of us who were near;
Right: for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.
One: So then we are no longer strangers and aliens, but we are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,
All: built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom we also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.
Unison Prayer
Dear Lord, we have been far from each other, not only in our travels, but in our journeys. Our goals and aims have been different, not only from each other, but from your plan for our lives. All along you have called us together, to a quiet place, where we might be nourished and filled with your spirit. Open our hearts, our minds, our souls, to your glory as we come together as one people from around our community and around our world. These things we pray in the name of the Risen Christ, Amen.
Morning Prayer
Shepherd God, you lead us, sometimes against our will, sometimes with our cooperation. Your greener pastures beckon; the waters of your stream refresh us. Your banquet awaits us. We rejoice to be part of your flock. You grieve over the loss of a single sheep. All of us, once lost, have been found. Your goodness and your mercy abide with us. We celebrate today the glorious destiny you have planned for us. As we grow to trust you with our hearts as well as our thoughts, recognizing your good will for our lives, fill us with the strong sense of your loving presence. Amen.
Offering Prayer
We recognize, O Lord, the blessings sent us from above,
Presenting for your kingdom these our offerings of love.
Children's Benediction
The Lord is my shepherd.
