CALL TO WORSHIP
Bless the Lord who gives us counsel, who shows us the path of life. In his presence there is fullness of joy; at his right hand are pleasures for everyone.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
MERCIFUL SOVEREIGN, WE ARE NOT FIT SUBJECTS OF YOUR RULE. YOU HAVE SHOWN US THE WAYS OF LOVE AND FORGIVENESS BUT WE SOMETIMES TURN BACK TO WAYS OF PRIDE AND HATRED. WE ARE MORE READY TO DENOUNCE YOUR ENEMIES THAN TO DECLARE THE GOOD NEWS. WE DELAY OBEDIENCE TO YOUR CALL WITH EXCUSES OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE. FORGIVE OUR REFRACTORY DISCIPLESHIP AND OUR OUTRIGHT DISOBEDIENCE FOR JESUS' SAKE. AMEN

Friends, hear the Good News! For freedom Christ has set us free. Through the Spirit by faith we wait for the hope of righteousness. Friends, believe the Good News! IN JESUS CHRIST, WE ARE

EXHORTATION
Do not use your freedom as an opportunity for selfish advantage, but through love be servants of one another.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
DELIVER US, FAITHFUL SON, FROM DELIBERATE DELAY AND THE EXCUSES WE USE TO PUT OFF POSITIVE ACTION WHEN YOU CALL US TO FOLLOW YOU IN SERVING THE HIGH PURPOSES OF GOD'S KINGDOM AND COMPLETING OUR FATHER'S BUSINESS. AMEN
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
OUR HEARTS ARE GLAD, LIVING LORD: WE PRAY WITH JOY, FOR YOU SPARE OUR LIVES DESPITE DISEASE AND ACCIDENT. YOU ARE OUR REFUGE IN FEARFUL TIMES AND BRING US OUT OF SHADOW INTO THE PLACE OF PLEASANTNESS AND PEACE. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR A GOODLY HERITAGE AND THE NOBLE EXAMPLE OF THE SAINTS WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE US. WE DELIGHT IN THEM AND IN YOU. AMEN

THESE GIFTS ARE MEANINGLESS, GOOD LORD, IF YOUR NAME IS ON OUR LIPS BUT NOT IN OUR HEARTS. LET YOUR SPIRIT COMPLETE THE GOOD WORK BEGUN IN US THAT WE MAY WORTHILY BEAR THE NAME OF CHRIST. AMEN
PSALM 44:1-8
We have heard with our ears, O God,
OUR FOREFATHERS HAVE TOLD US,
The deeds you did in their days,
IN THE DAYS OF OLD.
How with your hand you drove the peoples out and planted our forefathers in the land;
HOW YOU DESTROYED NATIONS AND MADE YOUR PEOPLE FLOURISH.
For they did not take the land by their sword, nor did their arm win the victory for them;
BUT YOUR RIGHT HAND, YOUR ARM, AND THE LIGHT OF YOUR COUNTENANCE, BECAUSE YOU FAVORED THEM.
You are my King and my God;
YOU COMMAND VICTORIES FOR JACOB.
Through you we pushed back our adversaries;
THROUGH YOUR NAME WE TRAMPLED ON THOSE WHO ROSE UP AGAINST US.
For I do not rely on my bow,
AND MY SWORD DOES NOT GIVE ME THE VICTORY.
Surely, you gave us victory over our adversaries
AND PUT THOSE WHO HATE US TO SHAME.
Every day we gloried in God
AND WE WILL PRAISE YOUR NAME FOR EVER.
