Call To Worship
One: When the waves were rolling the boat about and the apostles were afraid,
All: Jesus said, "It is I. Do not be afraid."
One: Our own lives are tossed about by the storms of our everyday events.
All: Jesus says to us, "It is I. Do not be afraid."
One: When the multitudes crowded around Jesus, he asked his disciples where they might find food.
All: The task seemed impossible. Phillip said that six months' wages would not be enough to feed them all.
One: Andrew went out at least and found a boy with loaves and fishes he was willing to share.
All: Jesus commanded them to sit down and eat. Why should they have feared? It was Jesus who cared for them.
One: It is Jesus who cares for us. Let us pray.
Unison Prayer
Precious Lord, when the storms of life are raging, we seek you through the wind and rain as our guide. When the tables of the world seem bare, we count on you to give us strength so we might make a difference with your aid. When there seem to be no answers to the world's problems, we gather to praise you, knowing that there is nothing so difficult for you to answer. Bless us as your people as we praise you. Inspire us as we seek to share your word with the hungry and weary world. We pray these things in the name of the Risen Lord. Amen.
Morning Prayer (based on Ephesians 3:14-19)
We bow our knees before you, Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. We pray that, according to the riches of his glory, you may grant that we may be strengthened in our inner being with power through your Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, as we are being rooted and grounded in love.
We pray that we may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that we may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Unison Benediction (based on Ephesians 3:20-21)
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Children's Benediction
The Lord is near to all who call upon him.
