Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Inner Conflict
Call To Worship
This is the day the Lord has made: it is a day for singing and praying! It is a day for forgiving and reconciling! It is a day for resolving and renewing! It is a day for celebrating and rejoicing! Let us take this day which God has made and fill it with good things!
Invocation
Almighty God, whose voice is kind and whose leadership is sure, grant guidance to us for we are wandering; speak gently to us for we are hurting; and bring peace to us for we are restless; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Lord, we do not understand our own actions. We know what is right, but then we go ahead and do the very thing we hate. Free us, we pray, from being captive to sin for we know it is only through Jesus Christ that we will be rescued from the weakness of our own wills. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Father, we bring these gifts as evidence that your Word is alive in us, nourished by your Spirit, stirring with new life, budding with the promise of a generous harvest. Amen.
Hymns
"What A Friend We Have In Jesus"
"Dear Jesus, In Whose Life I See"
"We Shall Overcome"
