Call To Worship
Leader: Is it possible that human weaknesses are for a reason?
People: We believe in a God who wishes well for us.
Leader: Is it possible that hardships are to give us limits?
People: We believe in a God who not only shaped but also sustains us.
All: It is possible that in our weaknesses we find strength.
Collect
You continually re-introduce us to hope, O God, as you teach us to come to new understandings about our gifts of talent, personality, and inadequacy. Thank you for the capacity to grow. Through your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We know, God, that when we stop complaining about our weaknesses and cease mourning what we can no longer do, something tender begins to happen within us. We let our frailties awaken alternative ways of doing things. We find other ways to use our talents. We learn patience and hope because we become "can do" people again. The "I can't" keeps us realistic but no longer defeats us. Strengthen our tenacity, O God, so we might sing a new song of life to you. Amen.
44B Hymns
"Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" or "Sing Praise To God, Who Has Shaped" Tune: LOBE DEN HERREN
"You Gave My Heart New Songs Of Praise" Tune: AZMON, NEW SONG, or WINCHESTER OLD
"Have Faith In God" or "Lord Jesus, Think On Me" Tune: SOUTHWELL
