The Essential Book of Funeral Resources
Object:
Leader: Jesus loved the little children. Jesus loves us. He willingly gave his life for us. Jesus reminds us that we must have faith like a child, not only a child of God, but a small child who does not doubt or question, but who accepts God's Word and salvation.
Reader: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Response: Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Reader: Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. Take care that you do not despise one of these little ones;
Response: For, I tell you, in heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in heaven.
Reader: Let the little children come to me; do not stop them;
Response: For it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
Reader: Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.
Response: And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.
Leader: Let us pray the prayer that our Lord taught us:
All: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
