Second Sunday After Christmas
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Spiritual Blessings In Christ
Call To Worship
Hear, one and all, joyful and happy, lonely and afraid, friendless and trembling: Come, arise, shine, for your light has come! The Lord's Glory has risen upon us, and his Glory is seen in us.
Invocation
We are thankful, O God, that down through the ages you have spoken to people in a variety of ways; and that in Jesus Christ you came to reveal yourself more personally to us. We gather this day to hear you, experience you, and worship you. We are hungry, eager and waiting for your direction in our lives. Come be with us this day. Amen.
Confession
Heavenly Father, we have heard your word of salvation, and we have claimed the promise of redemption through your Son, Jesus Christ. We must confess, though, that we are weak, and while we want to follow your way, we are too often unwilling to inconvenience ourselves. Forgive us, Lord, and through this time of worship strengthen our resolve, and give us the courage and determination to follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O Lord, we offer these gifts so that others, like us, may be privileged to hear the word of truth, thus experiencing the favor of God which both forgives and renews. Amen.
Hymns
"Spirit Of God, Descend Upon My Heart"
"O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee"
"We Would See Jesus"
