Words Of Assurance
Jesus said: "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly." From him receive life and light, hope and peace, in this life and the life to come. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
We are here today, O Lord, to celebrate your gift of a good creation. We ascribe to you all glory and power. May you bless your people with your peace.
O Most Holy Redeemer, we need you to hear us even though our complacency has made us deaf to you. We need you to receive us now even though our self-sufficient attitude has made us forget you. We need you to care for us because we have failed to care for each other.
Ever-living God, you have breathed into us the very breath of life. You beheld us even before we saw the light of day. It is to you, Creator of all, that we give our truest adoration, our highest praise, our purest love. You have not withheld your salvation. You have given your Son to rescue us. Though we can make no sacrifice, offer no gift in return for what you have done, we utter this prayer of heartfelt thanksgiving. Thank you for the life and light of Jesus. That light has pierced through the clouds of doubt and confusion. Thank you for family and friends whose love reminds us of your love. Thank you for your encouraging and empowering Spirit. Sometimes we are so filled with the Spirit we truly feel our youth being renewed and we soar like eagles. Our faith is full and sure and we are ready to go wherever you would send us. For these faith-filled times, we are most grateful. But we are not always so sure of ourselves or of you. Sometimes it is hard even to believe you are near. Sometimes it is impossible to take your promises seriously. When we are unable to pray and don't know what to ask, let your Spirit intercede for us. May the hearts, minds, and bodies of all women and men who serve you, whether close at hand or in distant places, be refreshed and supported by your loving Spirit.
Fill us now with your Holy Spirit that we might bring your love to our world. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Benediction
May God give you a desire to serve him with daring courage, with a willing mind, and with a persevering heart; and the blessing of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with you. Amen.
