Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let all of God's people give praise and worship the Lord!
People: For we were once sinful and without hope before the Lord of hosts.
Leader: But as faithful servants of the Lord we have been clean for all to see.
People: Not that we should boast, but that the Glory of the Lord might be known.
Leader: Let us proclaim for all to hear God's glory and merciful ways.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, Your ways are truly not our ways. You never cease to amaze us with Your willingness to reach out and give us health and wholeness if we will but hear Your word. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, in these days of modern medicine and wonder drugs we have so often forgotten that, above all, our healing and strength come from You. Instead we have thought of ourselves as being in control of our own destinies, and we have even turned fully away from You. Forgive us, O Lord, and receive us again as Your children. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"All Creatures Of My God And King"
"Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know"
"Be Still, My Soul"
Sixth Sunday After Epiphany
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Theme: Remember Whom we serve.
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, gather in the house of the Lord, all who would serve Christ!
People: But serving the Lord can be very demanding and hard.
Leader: But with God's help we can be good and faithful servants to the end.
People: And will the rewards of eternity and salvation go to the faithful?
Leader: Yes! So let us gladly proclaim the joyful news of Life in Christ.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O Most High and omniscient God, You have the ability and wisdom to understand all that is or ever will be, yet You choose to use us as Your messengers to the world. Help us be true, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, sometimes we have allowed the toil and strains of life to wear us down until we lose our vision of the wonder and joy of being chosen to be members of Your Holy Church. Forgive us, Lord, and once again restore our sense of mission and purpose as Christians so that we might be faithful and true until that day we stand before You in heaven. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Here, O Lord, Your Servants Gather"
"Forward Through The Ages"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
Sixth Sunday After Epiphany
Gospel: Mark 1:40-45
Theme: Jesus, the source of healing and salvation
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who would know God's healing come this day and worship!
People: We are wounded and sore, tired and weary from the battles of life.
Leader: Let us bow then before the Lord that in Christ we might be healed.
People: We come, such as we are, placing all that we have before the Lord.
Leader: God's mercy and grace are real and our pleas this day have been heard.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, You have created all that exists in the vastness of the universe, yet You still take notice of that which afflicts even the least of us Your children. We praise You, Almighty God. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we live as though You do not walk with us and You are not able to hear the pleas of our hearts. We focus instead on the ways and things of the world and often end up losing all hope in life itself. Forgive us, Lord, and give us the eyes to see Your presence around us and the courage to place our lives in Your care. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"In Christ There Is No East Or West"
"Blessed Assurance"
"There Is A Balm In Gilead"
