Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Dark Gethsemane
Call To Worship
Leader: Hosanna to the Son of David!
People: Hosanna in the highest!
Leader: Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
People: Hosanna in the highest!
Invocation
Lord God, we gather to praise you this morning, as did the believers in the streets of Jerusalem so many years ago. May our hosannas be genuine, and may our devotion be sincere. Amen.
Confession
Gracious Lord, we humbly confess that your kingship has not always been evident in our lives. We have not always been obedient to your authority and we have failed to reflect your character in our thoughts and actions.
Forgive us, we pray, for our betrayal of your trust in us and strengthen us that we may be more worthy disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Almighty God, we know that our most generous gift stands pale alongside your sacrifice through Christ. Nevertheless we wish to respond in some meaningful way. So we give in faith, knowing that you will receive our offerings with your benediction and will use them to share your love. Amen.
Hymns
"Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates"
"Go To Dark Gethsemane"
"Precious Name"
