Call To Worship
Do you always understand what you are reading when you read the Bible? This is the story of real people. The stories of the Bible are also about you and me. Come, let us listen to Holy Scripture with the ear of the heart as well as that of our hearing. Come, let us worship God.
Collect
Gracious God, through the stories of the Bible you tell us that you understand our situation, that we are not alone, and that whatever our circumstances, nothing can prevent us from being acceptable to you. We are grateful. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Open the ear of the heart, O God, so we, like the disciple Philip, will become aware of how others might recognize themselves in particular passages of Scripture. Let us listen for teachable moments rather than rushing ahead before another person is ready to hear the story. Then, let us tell the story of Jesus as clearly as we are able through our actions and our words. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Call To Worship
Leader: I call you brother or sister because we share a parent.
People: I call you brother or sister because we have talked soul to soul with each other.
Leader: I call you brother or sister because we both live with cancer or broken relationships or memories of abuse.
People: I call you brother or sister because you are my neighbor.
All: We are brothers and sisters because we profess the same Christ and acknowledge that God is God.
Collect
We love because God loved us first. Because of your love, O compassionate One, let us recognize that all who are born of God are our brothers and sisters. Let your love be the holy connector among us. In the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We do not give you a chance to live, O God, unless we love one another. Help our love to be more than love in theory. Strengthen our love so we can extend it to the brothers and sisters who are hard to love. Help us recognize the negative energy of envy, avarice, jealousy, rivalry, and selfishness so we might better replace them with the power of a loving spirit. For the sake of Christ. Amen.

Spring pruning looks drastic. Sometimes it is. The result is equally surprising as double growth bursts forth from each cut and results in a better plant. Be warned, however, to make judicious pruning choices lest the thinning severs the main stem from which all sustenance arises.

We are here, O God, because we recognize you are the vine. The health of our spirit hinges on a strong relationship with you. Renew us with a right spirit, O God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
God of growing things, we want to grow, too. Keen our minds to pay attention to that about ourselves which is nonproductive so we might cull weakness from our lives and begin to thrive again. For the sake of Christ. Amen.
