Call To Worship (Revelation 21:1-2, 22)
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
Collect (based on Psalm 89:26)
You are our Father, our God, and the rock of our salvation! Into your hands we commit our lives, our destinies, and our service. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Not in this building do we find your sanctuary, but in your word and among your people! When we are too comfortable, afflict us so that we might travel out into our community and beyond to your world of hurting souls, that all might find their place in your kingdom. You are the king! You are eternal. Son of David, Son of God, Ancient of Days, Word made Flesh, Jesus, Messiah, Savior. Amen.
Hymns

Second Lesson: Ephesians 2:11-22
Theme: Real Peace, Lasting Peace
Call To Worship (Psalm 23 KJV)
(Unison) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Collect
Shepherd king, Lord of life, you who carried the cross for us, we beg for your peace, that you might take hold of all your broken people throughout the world and make of us one body in your image. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (Ephesians 2:13-14)
One:
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
All:
For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. Amen.
Hymns

In Christ There Is No East Or West
Proper 11 / Ordinary Time 16
Sunday between July 17 and July 23 inclusive
Gospel Lesson: Mark 6:30-34, 53-56
Theme: Come Away And Rest A While
Call To Worship
One:
The Lord Jesus calls us to rest a while.
All:
This same Lord leads us into active ministry in the world.
One:
Come, gather in this sanctuary from the world's ways.
All:
This is a sanctuary of service and prayer.
Collect
God of time, timeless Creator, we struggle with distractions, priorities, and the peace that eludes us. Calm our hearts with your Spirit, cleanse our minds with your living word, call us as Lord to join you as living sacrifices perfected in your love. In our gathering and our going, help us to balance the needs of the moment with the desire for eternity. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord of our hours, you have set aside a special time for us to withdraw from the world. You have called us away from ambition to ease, from quantity to quality, yet so often we take your gift of sabbath and turn it into a catch-all day. We know that no matter how much we do, there will always be more. We confess we have treated our bodies, which are your temples, as objects that can be run into the ground, acting as if there would never be any accounting. We resolve to release time, and behold you. Amen.
Hymns

But I Know Whom I Have Believed
There Is A Place Of Quiet Rest
