Call To Worship (Revelation 2:3-5)
One:
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away."
All:
And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new."
Collect
Always, Lord, I praise your name for the clear law of my conscience and my heart. You have made me with fearful and wonderful care. I know you have called us to the renewal of your church. Revive us, restore us! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Write your law, Lord, upon my heart! Let right choices be as commonplace as breathing to me. Let your grace abound and this present age pass away. Amen.
Hymns

Here I Am, Lord
Revive Us Again
Reformation Sunday
Second Lesson: Romans 3:19-28
Theme: Getting Down To Basics
Call To Worship (Psalm 24:1-2)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.
Collect
Your gift of grace we cherish, your salvation we embrace, your beauty we behold. Thank you, Living God of past, present, and future. Call us back home. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Great God of grace, we throw the word "grace" around like it was a law or something, and forget to receive it for ourselves and grant it to others. We return to your word and pledge to pare away all distractions, all notions, preconceptions, and paraphernalia that draw us away from you, while recognizing that you speak to us in all the media, all the mouths, and all the miracles that surround us. Let this be your re-formation, and not a reorganization for our convenience. We praise you. Hallelujah. Amen.
Hymns

Gospel Lesson: John 8:31-36
Theme: Freedom Truth
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 24:10-11)
Be still and know that God is God.
(Silence)
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Collect
Lord, your chosen prophets, your pioneers, who called us back to freedom and grace, are safely dead. Call up new prophets, drag us out of our complacency, and fill us again with that Spirit that calls us dangerously to return to your word. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, lead us in a re-formation of your church, as we see to cross every line that divides us -- ethnic, racial, economic, national. We wish to be the perfect bride of Christ, not a comfortable social club. Convict us of our sins, then create in us a new heart. Your truth sets us free. Amen.
