Series VII, Cycle B
Call To Worship
Rejoice and be glad in God!
Collect
God of great deeds, you are like the single mothers in our midst, who without credit, or without any backup, work, raise families, pray, and play. You have sent your servants into our midst and we have not seen you in the mirror you have provided! Challenge us to serve each other, praise each other, while serving and praising you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (Psalm 1:1-3)
Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. Amen.
Hymns
Great Is The Lord
Mothering God, Who From Our Birth
I Shall Not Be Moved
Proper 20 / Ordinary Time 25
Sunday between September 18 and September 24 inclusive

Theme: What Are You Thinking?
Call To Worship (Psalm 118:24)
One:
This is the day that the Lord has made;
All:
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Collect
Wise God, wise guide, we look to you in our worship today. Plant the seeds of peace in our hearts, that we might bear the fruit of peace in your world. Accept the offering of our willing hearts and our faltering wills, stir within the embers of our commitment a new life and a new light. Renew us, redeem us, replenish our spirits with the power of your Spirit. In your mighty name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We know better, Lord, than to engage in petty arguments and useless disputes. Instead we resolve to focus on the message of life -- Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again! Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
Hymns
Holy Manna
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
I Am Thine, O Lord
Proper 20 / Ordinary Time 25
Sunday between September 18 and September 24 inclusive
Gospel Lesson: Mark 9:30-37
Theme: No Cutting In Line
Call To Worship (Mark 9:36-37)
One:
Then [Jesus] took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them,
All:
"Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me."
Collect
Heavenly Father, gather us, first, last, and always. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Choose us last, Lord, for we are busy figuring this servant thing out. Give us a little more time as we claim our place in line. Let us watch others, your saints, your great examples, who live in our midst. Then perhaps we will dance in your kingdom like a child, hollering and shouting without worrying what the world thinks. Like a child, Lord, lead us. Amen.
Hymns
By Gracious Powers So Wonderfully Sheltered
Savior, Like A Shepherd Lead Us
Christian Let Your Burning Light
Rejoice and be glad in God!
