Call To Worship (1 Samuel 2:1-2, 8)Call To Worship (1 Samuel 2:1-2, 8)
My heart exults in the Lord; my strength is exalted in my God. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in my victory. There is no Holy One like the Lord, no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them he has set the world.
Collect
God of justice, you know us and love us. We seek your mercy for our people. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
God does not forget us. God will call us to mind -- whether we have been derided, or derided others! Let us rejoice in the Lord and in the time he has given us to change our hearts and minds.

Call To Worship (based on Psalm 16)Call To Worship (based on Psalm 16)
One:
Protect us, O God, for in you we take refuge.
All:
Let us say to the Lord, "You are our Lord; we have no good apart from you."
One:
Our delight is in those who share this fellowship with us.
All:
As a result we will not follow the example of those who worship the false gods of power, wealth, and prestige.
One:
The Lord is our chosen portion and our cup; God, you hold the keys.
All:
We are thankful for our heritage as your family, as members of the body of Christ.
One:
We bless God who instructs us through the written word and the word written on our hearts.
All:
The Lord is always with us. We shall not be moved.
One:
That is why we are glad and rejoice, for we rest secure in God's hand.
All:
God will not abandon us in trial or tribulation. God shows us the path of life. Here, in the presence of God and God's people is the fullness of joy. And if that were not enough, in God's right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Collect
Perfect God, Perfect Priest, we praise your name this day! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have failed to take advantage of the boundless grace you have given us, the fruit of your perfect sacrifice, given once for all. Today we pray that you will set our hearts and our minds on first things, only things, best things. Amen.

Call To Worship (Psalm 126:5-6)Call To Worship (Psalm 126:5-6)
One:
May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.
All:
Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.
Collect
Lord of creation, you sustain us with your breath from birth until death.
You walk beside us whatever betide us.
Lord of elation, your joy is forever.
The world disappoints us. You? Never!
Through darkness and doubt we follow your light
And pray you will guide us to stand in your sight.
Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (built around Mark 13:7-8)Prayer Of Confession (built around Mark 13:7-8)
The salvation of God has come. When we hear of wars and rumors of wars, we will not be alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is still to come. Nation continues to rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom. Earthquakes, famines? Just the beginning of birthpangs. What will engage our attention is not the skies -- when you return, Lord Jesus, we'll know it. Instead we will use this precious time for the healing of the nations, the quelling of rumors, relief for those engulfed in earthquakes and famines, so that out of the pangs will come the birth of your kingdom. Amen.
