Series VII, Cycle B
Call To Worship (Psalm 139:17-18)
How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! I try to count them -- they are more than the sand; I come to the end -- I am still with you.
Collect
Call us again, Lord, call us by name. We are here, and pray that you will speak in our hearts, that once again there will be vision among God's people. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
God of mystery, God of perception, in the dark of our lives you have called us and we have mistaken that call for the world and its distractions. Call us again. Speak, for your servants are listening. Amen.
Hymns
Open Now The Gates Of Beauty
Are Ye Able?
Revive Us Again
Second Sunday After The Epiphany
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
Theme: Bought At A Price
Call To Worship
(based on Deuteronomy 6:4 and 1 Corinthians 6:20)
Listen, God's people -- the Lord our God is one. The Lord our God has redeemed us at a price. Let us gather together in worship today, resolved to live lives worthy of that God.
Collect
As we will judge angels, Lord, so now we seek to judge ourselves, that we might not only gather at your temple, but that with your grace we shall become living temples of your Spirit. Bless us in our worship today. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Gracious Lord, we pray for these your children -- our friends, neighbors, relations, and fellow Christians, those we know well, and those we should know better -- and ask that you help us to see each one with your eyes, as someone precious beyond words. You have paid a great price for us, and demonstrated the value you have set upon our souls. We ask that you hear our prayers, spoken and unspoken, and answer us in a manner of your choosing as we seek to tell of your glory in this world to those who seek you yet. These things we pray in your mighty name. Amen.
Hymns
I Know Not Why God's Wondrous Grace

Here I Am, Lord
Second Sunday After The Epiphany
Gospel Lesson: John 1:43-51
Theme: We Are Wonderfully Made
Call To Worship (John 1:36)
Look! Here is the Lamb of God!
Collect (Psalm 139:1-6, 14)
O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (built around John 1:49 and 51)
Jesus, Lord, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel. Let your heavens be opened, angels ascending and descending, as we proclaim that the Son of God is among us, and his reign is forever. Amen.
