Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Second Lesson: Philippians 4:4-7
Theme: Say It Again!
Call To Worship (Philippians 4:4-8)
One: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
All: Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
One: Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
All: And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
One: Finally, beloved,
All: whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Collect
Let our rejoicing be continuous, God of salvation. Hear our call as we recognize and claim what is true, honorable, just, pure, pleasing, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise, for they all have their source in you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
What joy is ours, God of many gifts. What joy we have denied by focusing on the negative in our lives together. Call us to think upon those things which demonstrate your presence among us, and away from barriers that keep us apart. Come, Lord Jesus, return to us now that we need you most. Amen.
Hymns
Sweet Hour Of Prayer
Lord, With Devotion We Pray
Rejoice, The Lord Is King!
