Gospel Lesson: Luke 3:7-18
Theme: Fruits Worthy Of Repentance
Call To Worship (Isaiah 12:2-6)
One: Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation.
All: With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
One: And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted.
All: Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.
Collect
Lord, we remember on this Third Sunday Of Advent that you are the source of our celebration. We call upon your name. We are not afraid. You are our strength when we are weak. You are our words when we struggle to express your goodness. You are our Spirit when our own will is struggling. Bless us in our gathering and in our departing today. These things we pray in the name of your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord of judgment, God of mercy, you call us to account, you call us to task, and you call us to higher things. So often we focus on what is not important. Today in prayer and supplication we give you thanks and lift up our requests to you. Grant us the peace which passes all understanding, and guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.
