Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Prepare The Way
Call To Worship
Leader: To those wandering in darkness,
People: Christ came as the Light of the World.
Leader: To those who are at odds with others and themselves,
People: Christ is the Prince of Peace.
Leader: To those who seek the presence of the divine,
People: Christ is Emmanuel, God with us.
All: Come, let us anticipate the advent of our Lord.
Invocation
Most Merciful God, who so loved the world as to give your only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life; grant unto us, we humbly pray, the precious gift of faith, whereby we may have power to overcome the world, and gain a blessed immortality; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Almighty God, we who are aware of your power made known to us in the Babe of Bethlehem, realize that we ought to prepare the way for your coming into the lives of others. You have given us the task of witnessing to the hope for renewal that you hold out to all, but we confess that we have not always taken up our responsibility. Forgive us for our shortcomings, Lord, and encourage us as we try to proclaim the good news that Christ came into the world that everyone might have life, and have it abundantly. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, through our offerings we commit ourselves anew to your ministry of healing and hope, both here in this place, and throughout the world. Accept these gifts with our prayers and with our concern. Amen.
Hymns
"What Child Is This?"
"Lift Up Your Heads"
