Third Sunday After Epiphany
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Jesus Begins His Ministry
Call To Worship
The Lord our God calls us to turn from the past and to be his special people; to find in him joy and meaning, a new life here and now, and eternal bliss in the world to come. Come! Let us praise the Lord.
Invocation
O Lord, help us, as we come together to worship you, to hear the still, small voice, to feel the rustling of your Spirit, to experience the warming of our hearts, to understand the mysteries of our faith, and to recognize your presence among us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Lord, when we read how those first disciples responded to your call and followed you without hesitation we must confess that our own response has been less than a full commitment. We sometimes pretend to more knowledge of you and your will than we really have. Forgive us for our narrow vision and our limited love. Help us to expand our vision and our love until we are worthy to be called your disciples. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, in responding to your command to follow you, we have become aware that you have called us to serve a purpose in life greater than ourselves. Help us to achieve that purpose as we give of our time and talents daily and as we dedicate these gifts to the work of your Church around the world. Amen.
Hymns
"When Morning Gilds The Skies"
"Jesus Calls Us"
"O Young And Fearless Prophet"
