THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

LECTIONARY WORSHIP AIDS
Series III
*CALL TO WORSHIP
God is everywhere. Pause here to be armed with the power from
above. This is God's promised gift.
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of all pilgrims, of all children of the faithful, of all
wrestlers with the truth, we confess our complicity with many of
the evils of society as well as our repentance of some of them in
the strength you have given us in the church. We are of the same
humanity that repudiated the suffering Messiah. We are of the
repenting community whose sins are wiped out. We need to know
you more truly so that your divine love may come to perfection in
us, through the Spirit of the Risen Christ. Amen.
ù DECLARATION OF GOD'S FORGIVENESS
Hear the Good News! We have one to plead our cause with the
Divine Parent, Jesus Christ who is just and the remedy for the
defilement of our sins, not our sin only but the sins of all the
world. Friends, believe the Good News! In Jesus Christ, we are
forgiven.
ù EXHORTATION
Bind yourself to love as Christ loved.
ù PRAYER OF THE DAY
Self-giving God, continue to give us your promised gift that we
may be empowered to obey your commands and be faithful
proclaimers of the forgiveness of sins to all nations, through
the dying and rising Messiah, and his gift with the Father of the
Spirit of Love. Amen.
ù PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
God above us, leading us to exaltation; God beneath us, lifting
us out of degradation; God around us, attracting our adoration;
God before us leading us to perfection; God behind us guarding us
from discouragement. Where would we be without you? What future
could we anticipate without your leading? We worship you, God of
all nations. We follow you, loving Messiah. We welcome you,
indwelling Spirit. Amen.
ù PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Risen Christ, give us faith to see that it is into your hands we
offer our gifts and that it is your feet we follow when we go out
so serve others in the Spirit of love. Amen.
ù PSALM 4
Answer me when I call, O God of my right!
You gave me room when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.
How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame?
How long will you love vain words,
and seek after lies?
But know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for himself;
the LORD hears when I call to him.
When you are disturbed, do not sin;
ponder it on your beds, and be silent.
Offer right sacrifices,
and put your trust in the LORD.
There are many who say, "O that we might see some good!
Let the light of your face shine on us, O LORD!"
You have put gladness in my heart
more than when their grain and wine abound.
I will both lie down and sleep in peace;
for you alone, O LORD, make me lie down in safety.
