Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.
Naomi was an Israelite woman who had seen her husband and two sons die while in Moab during the famine. Ruth, a Gentile, was Naomi's daughter-in-law who chose to stay with Naomi on her return to Judah. This was the ultimate expression of great love, devotion, and faithfulness to another human being.
The marriage vow from The Book of Common Prayer states: "To have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."
