Leader: We thank you, Lord, with all our hearts,
People: because of your constant love and faithfulness.
Leader: You answered us when we called to you;
People: with your strength you strengthened us.
All: Praise be to God!
Collect
Lord, we want to be like everyone else. We follow the crowd. We don't know and we don't care who is leading us. We just want to be like "them." Speak to us in this time of worship, God, that we may see the folly of our ways. Remind us anew of our pledge to follow you and you alone, as we seek to do your will. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord God, we bow before the "golden calf" and let money, wealth, and success ruin our lives. Forgive us, Lord, and free us from the shackles of materialism that keep us from letting you rule our hearts and minds. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Do you sometimes feel discouraged? Do you ever feel downhearted because you can't do everything you used to be able to?
Cheer up! Paul reminded the Corinthians and us that though our physical bodies are gradually wearing out our spiritual beings are renewed day by day.
Come to our worship service this morning seeking that spiritual renewal!

Thank you, God, for the gift of your Son who has awakened within us new hope. We look ahead to that time when our bodies here on earth are torn down, and we will live forever in a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, maybe the reason we don't speak up on your behalf is that we lack the faith that says you are alive and active in our world. O God, rekindle that faith within us so that, truly believing in you and your power to change the world, we will go out eagerly into the world as your agents. Amen.

People: So it is best for us to wait in patience -- to wait for him to save us.

Lord, we are united in our determination to seek your will and to do it. We join together not only with those in this congregation, but with all your followers under whatever name they gather to worship you. In that spirit of unity we gather this morning as part of your family. Show us your will, we pray, in Jesus'Òname. Amen.

O Lord, we beg you to give us the spirit to think and do always such things as are right. We acknowledge that we cannot do anything that is good without you. We pray that through your Spirit we will be enabled to live according to your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.
