What To Buy
Children's sermon
GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR
Object Lessons and other Worship Stories for Children
Children can give their dads gifts that don't cost money.
Objects: an advertsing supplement from the Sunday paper the week before Father's Day.
In last week's Sunday paper there were many ads. The ads were about gifts to give dad on Father's Day, which is today. I brought one of the ads with me so I could show it to you.
This one shows pictures of socks and T-shirts that you could give your dad on Father's Day. What other things are in this ad? (Let them answer.)
You probably don't have enough money to buy many of those things for your dad. If you were older and were earning money at a job, you might be able to buy him a calculator or a barbeque to cook his steak on, but right now you aren't that rich.
What could you give your dad that he'd like to have that wouldn't cost you any money? (Let them answer.) A hug, a kiss, a picture I drew, a poem or a story I wrote.
What could you say to your dad that he'd like to hear? (Let them answer.) "I love you." "Thank you for loving me." "Thank you for buying me clothes to wear and good food to eat."
It's good to have money for buying presents. If you don't have money, though, you can still do things so your dad will know you love him.
