When We Lose Patience
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle B
Call To Worship
When life seems to close in upon us, and we lose patience with God for not answering our prayers, remember that God's faithfulness endures and the power of his Spirit will see us through.
Come, let us worship our dependable God.
Collect
Almighty God, open our ears and our hearts to hear the cries of the needy. Strengthen our resolve to remember them in prayer, and guide our actions that we may be your agents of grace and mercy bringing to them salvation of both body and soul. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we confess that we are not only an impatient people, but we are quick to complain. We bemoan our lot in life when we should be counting our blessings. When we do not have all the material things we think are our due, we fail to see all the intangible blessings that are ours -- like freedom, companionship, and love. Forgive our shortsightedness and give us grateful hearts. We pray in Jesus'Òname. Amen.
Hymns

People: We must thank the Lord for his constant love, for the wonderful things he did for us.

People: We must thank the Lord for his constant love, for the wonderful things he did for us. Amen.
Collect
Heavenly Father, thank you for never giving up on us, even when we are intent on giving up on you. When in our despair we have turned to you, you have given us another chance, a new life of joy and service, of sharing and love. We come therefore to give you thanks and to praise your Holy Name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, once we were like everyone else, following the desires of flesh and senses. Then, Lord, your Son, Jesus Christ, came into our lives showing us the great love you have for us, and the richness of your mercy. Humbly we offer our prayer of thanksgiving that you have turned our lives around, and pray that by the power of your Spirit we may be able to show your love to others. Amen.

Call To Worship
Leader: Everyone who believes in Christ will have eternal life.
People: For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.
Leader: The Light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the Light.
People: Those who do what is true come to the Light in order that the Light may show that what they did was in obedience to God. Amen.
Collect
Gracious God, we know that we cannot earn your love or forgiveness, nor do we deserve it. However, we come with gratitude and thanksgiving to praise you for the gift of your Son, who through his death and resurrection has given us new life and the promise of eternal life with you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Gracious Lord, we are truly grateful for the gift of new life you hold out to us. We are proud to be a part of your kingdom, but we confess that we have been slow to accept the responsibilities that come with your gifts. We rejoice that we can dwell in the light of your forgiveness, but we are slow to share your love with those who are lost in loneliness and despair. We have failed to bring the light of Christ into their joyless lives. Renew a right spirit within us, O God, and send us forth determined, as children of the Light, to shed that Light abroad. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.
