Object:
A well-known gangster burglar died and in the next world found things to be very pleasant. He had all he ever wanted: a nice place to stay, plenty of good food and money, even had a car that was sleek and powerful. He also had a valet to assist him with his personal needs.
After a while he got bored with it all, and told the valet he missed those earthly escapades, like fleeing from the police after nearly being caught for holding up a bank.
"Would you like to do something like that again?" asked the valet.
"Oh sure," the burglar commented.
The valet told him it would be arranged. So it was that in this strange new world he was fully equipped, and actually did hold up a bank! It was all so smooth. It seemed like it was just too easy.
He told his valet it was thrilling, but it was just too good to be true. Then he said, "I thought Heaven would be different from this. Nothing ever goes wrong; I always win."
The valet answered, "Did you say Heaven? Sir, this is Hell!"
Who else may some day have a striking awakening that they are not in Heaven?
(Adapted from a radio and television broadcast on The Twilight Zone, by the late Rod Serling.)
