DAN: (DAN, GINNY ENTER) Well, that was some evening, wasn't it?
GINNY: I don't know what those educators are thinking of, wanting young people to decide what their career goals are when they're in junior high school.
DAN: Boy, I almost walked out of the meeting.
GINNY: I'm glad you didn't. They needed to hear your views.
DAN: Well, I guess I gave them a earful.
GINNY: Yes, you did that.
DAN: I'm still angry. Kids have to have time to be kids and not to worry about careers at that age.
GINNY: Johnny and Melissa are certainly kids who are enjoying their youth.
DAN: Good. I mean to help them both get into the right career when the time comes. But that time is not yet.
GINNY: How will we do that?
DAN: Well, I think they have to know who they are first.
GINNY: I think they know who they are. They're not snobbish on the one hand or too intimidated by other people.
DAN: I think you're right.
GINNY: I was just reading about John the Baptist and he seemed to be that way.
DAN: That's right, he was. He knew who he was.
GINNY: And just as importantly, he knew who he wasn't.
DAN: What do you mean?
GINNY: When the officials came to question him and they asked him who he was, the first thing he said was that he was not the Messiah.
DAN: That's interesting. He didn't answer their question about who he was. He told them who he wasn't.
GINNY: Right. It's important to know who you aren't.
DAN: I guess so.
GINNY: Our kids know God and so they won't have any doubts about who they are because God keeps us humble.
DAN: And if they're humble God can use them.
GINNY: And when God puts them to use in his kingdom then they'll be secure in what they are doing.
DAN: God knows our children better than we do, so he will be able to lead them into careers that will fit their personalities exactly. What could be better than that?
GINNY: Nothing, really.
DAN: I feel really secure about our children.
GINNY: Well, we pray for them every day, so God will take care of them.
DAN: Well, c'mon, let's go pray for them while they're sleeping.
GINNY: Good idea.
