Call To Worship (Acts 2:32)
This Jesus God raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses.
Collect
We lift up our eyes to you Lord, after the despair of the cross. We follow the path from the empty tomb to see you risen and walking among us! We praise your name in victory! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Can it be, Lord, that this same apostle, Peter, the rock on whom you are building your church, can it be this man who denied you three times, is now forgiven and preaching to us in your word? Is such forgiveness possible? It can. Let it be, Lord, let it be true. Hear the confession from your people! Save us and deliver us in hope and resurrection. Amen.
Hymns
"The Strife Is O'er"
"Man Of Sorrows" ("Hallelujah! What A Savior!")
"Low In The Grave He Lay"
Second Sunday Of Easter
Second Lesson: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Theme: The Path Of Life
Call To Worship (1 Peter 1:8-9)
Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Collect
Lead us, Lord Jesus, through this path towards real life, rich life, fulfilled life, found through your death and resurrection. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Heavenly Father, will we prove as true as your Son in a time of trial? Only with your help can we be sure. Accept our humble plea this day to preserve us from, or during, a time of testing. Amen.
Hymns
"We Walk By Faith"
"Joys Are Flowing Like A River"
"You Shall Go Out With Joy"
Second Sunday Of Easter
Gospel Lesson: John 20:19-31
Theme: Peace Be With You!
Call To Worship (Psalm 16)
One: Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
All: I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you."
Men: The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
Women: The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage.
Right Side: I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
Left Side: I keep the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
One: You show me the path of life.
All: In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Collect
Lord of resurrection, we praise you as we receive you in our midst. Though we have not seen, yet we believe, and this day we proclaim our belief to the world. Descend and be with us today as we strive to hear your will for our lives in the words that are spoken aloud as well as through the action of your Spirit in our hearts. These things we pray in your name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we praise you for the goodly heritage you have given us. We praise you for the way the boundary lines have fallen in place. In gratitude we seek to give back a portion of what is already yours. Bless us in this time of celebration. Use our lives for the work of your kingdom. Amen.
Hymns
"Great Is The Lord"
"Christ The Lord Is Risen Today"
"Sing Glory Hallelujah"
